Our second hike was Saturday, November 14, 2015 &#8211; details below. You can also follow the series on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pvpth\">PVPTH Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>East Mountain &amp; Holyoke Community College Trails<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Difficulty:<\/strong> Hard &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sharett.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/hcctrails.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-131\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sharett.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/hcctrails-214x300.png\" alt=\"hcctrails\" width=\"244\" height=\"318\" \/><\/a>hills with some steep climbs, navigating unmarked trails. \u00a0Also difficult to alert the bus driver to the right spot to be dropped off at.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Distance: <\/strong>About 4 miles.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transit:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pvta.com\">PVTA<\/a> R41 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pvta.com\/schedules\/R41.pdf\">schedule<\/a> , <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pvta.com\/Red41x.php\">map<\/a>) from the Academy of Music, <span class=\"_Xbe\">274 Main St, Northampton, MA 01060<\/span>.\u00a0 $1.25 each way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meet Saturday 11\/14 at 1 p.m. at the Academy of Music &#8211; we&#8217;ll take the R41 bus through Easthampton and get off on Rt. 141 in Holyoke across from the entrance to the Whiting Reservoir Trail Head.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll hike south on the New England\/M&amp;M Trail, climb the northern end of East Mountain and connect to the Holyoke Community College (HCC) trail system, catching the bus back from HCC at 4:10 pm, arriving in Northampton by 4:50 pm.\u00a0 Blaze orange is recommended as it is bow hunting season for deer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve started a new series of hikes using public transportation leaving from Northampton, Massachusetts.
